About Dr. Shen
Dr. Ivy Shen was raised in the smallest state, Rhode Island, and went on to graduate with honors in Neuroscience from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from the University of New England in Portland, Maine, where she graduated with honors in both research and the Care for the Underserved Program. During her time there, she was honored with the Dental Lifeline Network Award and the Brian D. Sloan Memorial Award for her dedication to service and excellence in care.
Following dental school, Dr. Shen completed a General Practice Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry, an experience that deepened her love for North Carolina, where she now proudly calls home. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and her local dental society. She maintains strong ties with the alumni community of her dental school and UNC. Dr. Shen also volunteers with Wake Smiles, providing essential oral health services to underserved and vulnerable populations in Raleigh.
Her clinical philosophy centers on providing patient-focused, compassionate care, ensuring every individual feels heard, respected, and at ease during their dental visits. Dr. Shen is deeply committed to treating her patients like family. Her journey into dentistry was inspired by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others through healthcare.
Personal Life
Dr. Shen is a passionate dental professional who brings both skill and compassion to her practice. She and her husband are proud parents to their 1-year-old daughter and share a love for the outdoors. In her spare time, Dr. Shen enjoys spending time in nature with her family, trying new and spicy foods, playing pickleball, and going on walks with her miniature Australian shepherd, Basil.
